Q: What do you do at the squadron?
A: Have a look on the “what we do” section for examples of our activities.

Q: How often do you attend cadets?
A: We come down to the squadron on Tuesday and Thursday evenings from 7 pm – 9:30 pm.

Q: Do I need to buy any type of uniform?
A: All of your blue uniform is supplied when you join, but you will need to buy your parade shoes. Over time you will need to buy green uniform although you are able to borrow some items from our stores.

Q: Will I have to pay?
A: Yes, a subscription is required per month to allow us to do some squadron activities.

Q: How old do I need to be?
A: Cadets range from ages 12 years old to 20 years old

Q: Why this squadron not another one?
A: For many people at this squadron, it may not be their closest squadron to them, but 391 is the best!

Q: Will I make any friends?
A: Of course, everyone at our squadron is very friendly and kind to our new cadets.

Q: Why do we have to wear uniform?
A: We are a military youth organisation associated with the Royal Air Force so we wear the same uniform as regular RAF personnel.

Q: Will I be shown how to wear my uniform?
A: Yes, during initial training you will be taught how to wear all of your uniform correctly and if you have any issues you can ask fellow cadets how to do it.

Q: Will there be other people starting with me?
A: Yes, you will be part of an intake group and will be taught with others and make friends in your intake before joining other cadets with their normal activities.

Q: Is drill difficult to learn?
A: Some cadets find it much easier to learn than others but all cadets are given lots of help to make sure that you are confident with your drill

Q: Can I take time off for exams and other personal things?
A: Yes, you are able to request leave of absence for any personal things via email or in person at the office.

Q: Will we get a chance to fly?
A: Yes, you will have an opportunity to fly or glide during the year. You may also get the chance to do this on camp.
